This quilt is about the myriad of supporting players in our lives. While the charismatic boulders play the leading roles, it’s the little chockstones, wedged in just the right places, that provide the support. Also, in a literal sense, a chockstone did save my life once. I had the wrong protection on a climb in Lumpy Ridge Colorado. I thought there was a bolted anchor at the top of my climb, and there was not. I found a small chockstone and wedged it into a crack, and then tied my rope around it so that my second could safely climb up (and if he fell, I wouldn't risk being pulled off the cliff with him). This one seems appropriate in today's climate as we all must navigate our roles in being supporting players. How are we going to do that?
