"The Weeping Cupids of the Baryshnikova Tomb" This tomb in Moscow’s Donskoy Cemetery belongs to Elizaveta Ivanovna Baryshnikova (1772–1806) — a noblewoman, mother of 13 children (6 died in infancy), who passed away at 34, half a year after giving birth to her last child. Designed by architect N.A. Lvov: red quartzite, bronze relief with Chronos, and a marble group of two mourning cupids holding a funeral urn. The epitaph reads: “To my gentle wife and truest friend, a mother who gave her life for her children…” — a personal letter across centuries. Shot on expired Kodak Plus-X 125. Moscow, 2022.
