Words to the song 'the sand and the stars' circa 2002, from the album 'The Sand and the stars' 2003.
The summer light at this time of year reminds me of this song - its full of old memories from beloved houses that I can no longer inhabit and a place by the sea that hopefully some day I will walk around again!
you can hear Annie's paws, walking across the floorboards in it - it is one of my favourite songs on the album.
Kate Wright: Words, Vocals, Spanish guitar
Matt Jones: ELectric Guitar
Tom Cops: Piano
Annie: Paws
The words are: you said the sand and the stars are waiting, it's time to leave the house and walk with me. And the birds on the rooftops were calling, sing out, sing out, singing out. As we walked through the streets the light was fading, I'm quiet, quiet , as a mouse. Because part of me lays there dreaming, within the walls of that dear house. In this town of hills, lanes and beaches, we follow the fireflies to the sea. On the breeze there's the scent of night jasmine, I gather close my memories. The details of window and floor and fireplace , clematis montana and apple tree. Sunshine on the porch, sleep overs. Sukie, Patch, Sally, Annie. Out on the beach the stars were blazing, sing out , sing out, singing out. And the birds on the rooftops were calling, sing out, sing out, singing out. and the sand and the stars were waiting, sing out sing out singing out. The last verse differs from the actual song as it is a rough version without the words being totally worked out.
