It’s too late to buy anything from me for Christmas. But A NEW YEAR IS ON THE WAY… and I will be making more art with any luck… #art #bsnm #myartyear

Simply the Best commission for Malcolm - a lovely chap and his dogs and beloved crocs! 80 in December - an giving me the chance to celebrate a dad despite no longer having my own big fella on this mortal coil. He is wearing black crocs, a red check shirt and jerkin and has two cute puppers in his arms. One of whom has delightful wonky teefs - happy 80th Malcolm :)
So month 12. I genuinely thought I’d stumble on a few of these months, but nope! And December saw one last piece - a commission for a dear friend’s wife’s dad. Not having my own any more it was nice to be able to celebrate someone else’s lovely old fella. Thanks for your support in #myartyear #art x
My boyfriend’s ragdoll cat, a quick sketch for relaxation on the Eurostar
Corking Robin Xmas Dec
The tirades creatures in the world - from an Edwardian Child’s storybook. From a wonderful show featuring Ada Campe
The grumpiest calico floofcat ever in a candyfloss sky. Available as a birthday card in dippyfishcards.Etsy.com
November and a busy work month with trips. But I still managed some stuff - sketching kitties in the Eurostar, painting Robin Christmas decorations, doing a Cabaret sketch evening from an Edwardian Child’s stories and then a VERY GRUMPEH cat drawn on a day off abroad. #myartyear #art
Rather silly pastiche of Fragonard’s The Seing featuring me on the swing and my beloved looking up my skirt. That’s about right. ;D I’m not explaining the jokes. But I have a feeling they’re pretty self explanatory
Now it’s on the wall :) in a rather perfect frame if I do say so…
October - ROCOCCO AND ROLL - my birthday month and I celebrated getting back with my childhood sweetheart with this “if it ain’t Baroque” version of Fragonard’s Swing featuring us both. And a load of daft in jokes. A high point of the last four months has to be said #myartyear #love #art #rococco
Gorgeous parrots painted for a customer in watercolour - definitely using some of the new skills I honed this year
A letter to my Boo, art on ghost shaped pebble. Now in a private collection
Having a go at capturing the dock itself - architectural study
A commission for a customer of a friend who was starring in Jerusalem, in the role made famous by MARK Rylance. This subject oozed charisma and I loved trying to capture his verve!
September and more art miscellaney - from a couple of lovely parrots for a commission to a little ghostly painted rock. I tried some architecture at the Wharf and another commission saw me painting a (right) character from Jerusalem :) #myartyear
This commission was hard. I was not entirely sure what I was doing and this was plan F. But I learned a lot and loosened up my style. Then got a load of nasty critique from Norman LeBrecht and his soulless followers cos I dared to try something they didn’t like. But I figured I was probably happier just trying than they’d ever be from just being spiteful on the internet. So I’ll carry on regardless
Lovely Burtie. An ex-Airedale beloved of the Elms IN Burton upon Trent - a commission for a lovely friend. I wrote a bespoke poem and painted this happy sleepy dog with his snacks and pals in Memoriam
Two bluetits painted on a pebble for my friends. Who are lovely tits
A robin companion piece for the earlier year’s snowdrops for my stepmother to remember my dad by
August, And a commission that drew the disapprobation of the rather nasty opera critic Norman Lebrecht who sicced his followers on me. Unpleasant, but I learned a lot doing it. A commission of Burtie the dug, Tits for my friends and a Robin for my stepmum for their 70th #myartyear #art #opera #dogs

Sennen cove drawn in a piece of ceramic I found washed up on the beach in pencil crayon
Experimental landscapes - this one is called Monbretia my reflection and has an explosion of goth black and orange of the Crocusmia contrasting with the calmer sea and sand behind
Putting what I learned into practise painting a sunset looking over Sennen Cove from my clifftop home for the week - serene
My favourite piece of that month - employing a little more “drawing” with the new methods I’d learned to capture the sea coming towards me past a rock at Porthmeor - prints of Porthmeor rocks available - contact me for details
July, and I learned new fings down in Cornwall. I did a course to learn new techniques and it was wonderful… I also drew a few tiny pieces on ceramic I found on the beach at Sennen #myartyear #art
I paid for the course with art I’d sold. Which was lovely (prints of these are available) #cornwall

Having a Go at my beloved silver birches bd capturing the dock
A beautiful goldfinch commission for a BlueSky customer. Loved doing this one. Not least cos it was dad’s fave bird and felt like a gift from the beyond for me as well as the client - and made a new friend in the process :)
Lovely cormorant swimming along in the beautiful reflections of the dock’s deep greens his turquoise eye brings me MUCH JOY. I bought that paint especially for that TINY DOT
An ambitious Klimt commission featuring my witch and wizard friends and their gazillion frogs immortalised on the cape. The one waggling his frogging junk is my fave. Cos Willies!
June saw me busting out all over with more #unsoliciteddockpix, pebble portrait commissions and a Klimt Kiss witchy commission… love this cormorant. It was a fishing cormorant that drew me to painting at the dock in the first place #myartyear #art
A prolific month
Silly little duck I drew at Eden Dock, Canary Wharf, a WAKing mallard drake. Until it occurred to me I could try and paint them properly
My first foray into painting the lovely reflections and birds at Eden Dock. Painting a coot from above - making ripples in the cool green depths. Mixed media graphite on tonal card
The start of my Canada Goose art drawn at the beautiful dock. I found my happy place here despite EVERYTHING more challenging in the year of continuing grief and sadness. Dad loved birds, he would love these
A couple of tufted ducks painted at the dock
May saw the #unsoliciteddockpix series start. I had terrible toothache and everything felt awful but I found feathery muses down at Eden Dock and it became my joy to paint them. It started silly, and swiftly got less WAK… #myartyear #art
I can’t wait till spring
PRIEST AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT FAMILIAR My digital sketch of a figure in a hooded top with a boss-eyed parrot
Worried I didn’t do enough art this year. I was a bit distracted by real life so I’m going to do that #myartyear hashtag. 🧵“The year began in early January…”
Dad planted snowdrops that came up a year after he died, so I immortalised them for my stepmum so she could enjoy their first blooming forever
A little flower fairy Bébé Olive inspired by my bonus niece. With a Somerset butterfly’s wings as her family hail from there… what a cutie
The soul of Pee(wit) - a lapwing portrait on a pebble showing those mad iridescent colours in the wing. Still available at artofnote.sumupstore.com
Anna’s hummingbird portrait on a pebble with silver leaf. Now in a private collection One of my fave tiny flying jewels this year
April and I started waking up and doing some more serious stuff… on found objects. Two gifts for Olives - my dad’s snowdrops on a brick fragment for my stepmother and a fairy Bébé for baby Olive inspired by the Flower Fairies, & I finished some pebble portraits: peewit/hummingbird

Probably where I started having therapy breakthroughs. Describing to my therapist in art how I feel. Here - a tiny helpless primal screaming redhead rending the earth apart with an AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnguished YAWP
Pot throwing art for my sis in law, Smoss. She’s brilliant and this is her happy place
Paralysed by inner demons. Redhead held still and powerless by demon of black emanating from her own head. You do it to yourself, y’do, as Radiohead might have it…
March was art for therapy and a potter pic for my sis in law and a second FWOG COMMISSION featuring a FROG BUTT… lows and highs and pots and buns - inner demons versus art for joy #myartyear #art
Terrified wabbit in my roughest month of the year? Yeah. Sounds about right. The anniversaries of both parents’ deaths - so yeah. Bleak
And a witchy commission with a FWOG being told it might end up in a cauldron. But not today…
My art year saw terrified rabbits and Witchy Commissions in February 2025

Popular from Wicked - clearly January’s art was all about blockbusters - a pink confection of one of Ariana’s hair flippiest moments
And on the other side of the scale, the bit where the Count waggles his undead wiener at us from his coffin in NOSFERATOOL
Hmmmm. Wonder if I can find a piece of art from every month this year…
Ok. Let’s go: January…
