These pics show some clouds very similar to nacreous clouds (above the dark cloud band). This is about 20 minutes after sunset. Normally #nacreous #clouds form at high latitudes, but this is from Cartagena, Colombia, at only 10.4ยบ latitude North. Any expert around knows if this is possible? ๐งช โ๏ธ

The image shows polar stratospheric clouds illuminated by moonlight. These rare clouds display soft, flowing bands of iridescent colors, including shades of orange, pink, purple, and blue, stretching across the dark night sky. Tiny, scattered stars are visible in the background, and a single bright celestial object stands out on the right side. The ethereal, wave-like patterns of the clouds create a dreamlike and otherworldly atmosphere.
In January I had the incredible fortune to observe #PolarStratosphericClouds, also known as #nacreous or #motherofpearl clouds, in the #nightsky in #Iceland. They were illuminated by the #moonlight and are rarer to observe than the #aurora.

Nacreous clouds, also known as polar stratospheric clouds, are rare clouds that form in the stratosphere at altitudes typically in polar regions.

A small flock of geese have just taken off and are flying in loose formation over the river and past the two tall electrical pylons that appeared in the previous photograph.
Nothing better than when #nature serves up something out of the ordinary. The sky was full of #Nacreous clouds on this day last year, adding some #Christmas colour to the skies over the Wee County.

December really was full-on with travels, intense work, and then the (now-traditional?) crash with covid for xmas. But at least I got to see some cool #nacreous #clouds i Portobello, Edinburgh. No photographic masterpieces, but bloody cool with mother-of-pearl and a peach in the sky!
