NANOG + APRICOT conversation and topic highlights:
Dave Phelan DDoS talk: excellent regional analysis!
Routing security convos showing real RPKI/ASPA deployment progress
Regional infrastructure = different constraints = different solutions
#NANOG #APRICOT2026 #DDoS #NetSec
Hmmm, #NANOG discusses #IPv4 pricing falling below $20. There is also a claim that North-American ISPs sell much of their IPv4 space. Why is that happening? Is it, because #IPv6 is now the preferred method?

The #NANOG mailing list discussed an outage of #Cogent in #Texas. The company's update: "This is being caused by multiple fiber cuts".
Must be lots of stuff going on, if multiple fiber cuts appeared at the same time. Anyone ideas what could have caused it?

Boosting for visibility. @jtk and I briefly explored what we see on the `/8`s announced by CAMTEL. It's been discussed on the #NANOG mailing list as well.

#NANOG is one of the greatest conferences, a whole wide world of internetworking. NANOG 95 videos dropping now.
Quite ambitious & lovely effort to build a "XDP2" that can target multiple systems (including XDP?), & Tom's been building an #UltraEthernet impl atop it. Talk is 50%+ UltraEthernet.
ROA Planner, as seen on the #NANOG list:
https://rootbeer.testing.ns.internet2.edu/roa-planner/
"The implementation remains fragile and will be unavailable intermittently, but we hope to improve it over the next couple of weeks."
aka beta test.

Just arrived at #NANOG95 this afternoon. It's gonna be a great show!
I'll be talking with folks in the hallway about all things @tornog.bsky.social, especially at the NOG BoF.
Find me in the hallway, if you're here.

mindful of their surroundings and avoid shooting doves on or near

This must be a very #US centric problem of #Internet service providers […]
#NANOG staff are collecting stories about first meeting experiences. I'm not sure they'll use mine so I'll share it here in case anyone finds it amusing.
In earlier days there was a lot of good discussion on the list, but I felt it could be very intimidating. People could be merciless in […]
What the #fediverse really needs is a mailing list (out-of-band) for all #instance #admins and operators. Something like #NANOG for network operators.
And no, Discord is not acceptable. Discord has HUGE privacy, trust, security, and safety issues.
#Email is available whether you're on vacation […]
There's an interesting conversation going on on the #NANOG #mailinglist. It's about running a #DNS resolver for a medium-sized service provider network:
Recommended DNS server for a medium 20-30k users isp
I particularly love that the people from @quad9dns chipped in, and revealed how they […]

NANOG 94 may be over, but the conversation continues. Peering discussions, along with various other topics, have been buzzing on Discord. Your active participation could truly impact the dialog.

We seriously need the equivalent of the #NANOG for #FediAdmins and #InstanceOperators. Anybody working on that? We're happy to host and manage (under our BOFH umbrella) if people want. An out-of-bands communication channel for all #instance operators is grossly needed. #MastoAdmin #LemmyAdmin […]

@0xmc.bsky.social said one thing that sticks with me from this #TNOps conversation:
"...the amount of things that you can just learn on your own is incredible."
Thanks again #nanog for hosting #TNOps on the road!

Received an email by the #NANOG mailing list in which they raise a pretty concerning thing: Apparently, #Spain started to intercept or nullroute certain IP addresses of #CDN providers. The intent is to fight #piracy during #football matches.
Do the people who pass the list of IP addresses even […]
screenshot from the link in the post, showing that the DEI Committee was indeed renamed to Community Engagement Committee
I'm very much disgusted that #NANOG went for renaming their DEI Committee to Community Engagement Committee.

The #NANOG 93 hack-a-thon begins on Monday. It is basically a CTF revolving around network ops challenges. I'm not running it, but I'll be participating, so I assume it's finding misconfig problems, debugging connectivity issues, and those sorts of things.
Remote participation is free […]
What I really miss on #bsky is the Internet networking community. It is a massive community that keeps networks, routers and datacenters running using IRC, mailinglists, fora and Twitter, but no Bsky unfortunately
Hashtags such #bgp #IXP, #Nanog, #NLNOG, #routing, #RIPE #APNIC #IETF #ARIN etc.
Last week I had the privilege of sharing some thoughts on #Network #observability with the incredible folks at #NANOG 90.

I don't expect conferences to be free, #nanog, #ripe, #apricot and others charge reasonable fees, #accelerate seems very high
Very excited to see that Scott Whyte presented a real life install of #RouteFlow at #NANOG /cc @chesteve @pica8
I think an interesting question to poll on at #NANOG would be "Does CapEx matter to you?"
At #NANOG if you want to meet up just ping me.
