Alissa Azar (@alissaazar@kolektiva.social) A year ago today I was sentenced to two weeks in jail after an extremely legally inconsistent verdict. The prosecutor, who was colluding with the far right throughout the entirety of my trial, changed the definition of what it means to be a “participant” at the last minute and painted me out to be the “Antifa ringleader” after seeing proof that my actions I was charged for were indeed self defense from Proud Boys violence. The goal was to find a way to get me anyways. He confused the jury, which was evident by the questions they repeatedly asked during deliberations and were never given an answer to. Maximum security was at full capacity but they sent someone home to make room for me anyways. General confinement wasn’t enough. They had a point to prove. They kept me in a freezing cold tiny holding cell with 10 other people at any given moment that had blood and vomit all over the floor for 24 hours before they finally took me to my cell. There is a lot to this story to share. A lot. It’s been quite the year and my mental health is still recovering from a lot of unprocessed trauma from both the trial and everything else that’s transpired over the years. I’ve decided that I’m ready to share about it all, but this is something I will be needing help with. I don’t have the mental and emotional capacity to do this by myself at the moment, and I’m not sure when I will. I’m feeling a lot of things today, but mostly gratitude. I’m so grateful for all of your support during some of the hardest days of my life. I’m extremely grateful for all of my friends and family and community who stuck by my side. And I’m beyond grateful for having the CLDC represent me. Having a legal team who actually understood everything I was going through made the world of a difference. I couldn’t have asked for a better team both supporting me and defending me. Rest in Power, Murphy. The courage you gave me will live in me forever. Thank you all so, so much. I don’t have the words to express how I feel, but gratitude is a start. Solidarity forever 🖤

the only good that could come out of Mike Schmidt starting this stupid podcast is if it’s bait to unveil the dark money shit pit that funded his even-worse opposition.
