A monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus) hovers near a cluster of small, light purplish-pink flowers.  The flowers are densely packed on a leafy bush with green stems and foliage. The background is a soft, muted olive-green gradient, fading to a darker shade at the back. The butterfly is in sharp focus, with its orange wings and black markings clearly visible as it appears to be in flight. The butterfly is positioned in the right-middle area of the image, facing slightly towards the flowers. The lush greenery and soft lighting create a peaceful and natural scene.

The thin green fronds of a flowering fennel plant are beaded with rain drops (the first rain we have had for a few weeks). On one of the fronds a little insect with long antennae and orange legs appears to be staring at the camera as if posing for it's portrait.
