#TRPC6 channels are implicated in pathogenesis of severe #nephrotic syndromes. This study of TRPC6 in normal physiological #podocyte functions reports roles in #MMP7-shedding of #nephrin ectodomains and #apoptosis.

They applied these principles to samples affected by #autoimmune conditions. Not only could they see a difference between the samples, but quantifying the distribution of #Nephrin showed a significant difference, making this method suitable for studying #DiseaseMechanisms and maybe for #Diagnostics.
