two men are sitting at a table and one of them says " aristophanes !! " ALT: two men are sitting at a table and one of them says " aristophanes !! "

First, you're right, the #BuddyCop genre is the popular version of the #OddCouple where a pair of opposites team up. The original sitcom, #Moonlighting, #TenspeedAndBrownshoe, #CagneyAndLacey, #Cheers (Sam & Diane), #StarskyAndHutch, #SimonAndSimon, etc.

Buddy cop overtook the odd couple label.

A lovely but #oddcouple, a #roseatespoonbill and #snowyegret. This was taken last summer at Back Bay Wildlife Refuge in Va. Beach; we don’t get a lot of spoonbills here as far as I know (I’m a newish birder) so this was wonderful! 🪶

Here's the same cardinal first discovering the bright red bowls I put out for him today. Crest way up in approval!

I noticed that this young cardinal is attracted to red bowls as feeders. Here he is having a snack as a sparrow waits his turn.

Cardinals are usually in my #OddCouple photos since they are in the middle of everything. The House Finches are often next to a Cardinal, but the Eastern Bluebird was leaving in a huff. 🪶 #BurdOfTheDay

Two bird species in tandem, not exactly an oddity in that one is breakfast for the other.

This picture goes with both tags for today's #BirdOfTheDay, i.e. #oddcouple and #urban : a grey heron and some ducks in an urban surrounding. I watched them by the side of a little canal, in a lovely old neighbourhood of Strasbourg, France. Shame they were in the shadow though...

Ops! I meant #OddCouple of Grey Heron and the BGH in the background .. which is a superb & very creative shot!

Was not wearing my right glasses & missed the BGH ..🧐

A future friendship for this #OddCouple looks doubtful.

Two birds sit side by side on the same bare tree branch. On the left is a bright pink roseate spoonbill standing on one leg with its bill tucked under its wing, its eye peeking out from above. On the right is a black and white anhinga with a bright turquoise surrounding its eye and feathers standing straight up on its head.

Two different birds, swimming in a marina. The are both swimming forward, but facing to the left. The back bird is a Heerman's gull. It looks very different from the usual Western and ring-billed gulls common in Southern California. Instead of a yellow beak, the Heerman's gull has a orange pink beak with a black tip. Its white head is freckled as it is in non-breeding plumage. Its back is a smooth dark charcoal color, and its white neck ombres into very pale grey. The front bird is an juvenile double-crested cormorant, sort of submarining, as most of its body is under water, but its long neck holds its head high out of the water. The cormorant is a sort of greyish brown with a light orange beak and face, and a blue eye.

An #OddCouple, i.e. two birds of two different species in the same picture, for #BirdOfTheDay. (It also works for the alt prompt, #Urban, as this is a marina in Southern California). Got a Heerman's gull and a juvie double-crested cormorant.
