The repercussions of Father Bonnet's unexpected visit were swift. Within minutes of his departure Mary's phone had lit up with a call from her mother, all tears and drama, per usual. “Oh, Mary, I can’t believe he did this to you!” Mary rolled her eyes as she held her phone aloft in one hand, on speaker. “Did what to me, Mother? What did Edward tell you?” “That Stede has been cheating on you!” “Not true, Mother!” “With…with a man.” “Ugh!” Mary groaned, mouthing to Stede, ‘I’m so sorry about this!’ as she pointed abjectly at her phone. ‘It’s not your fault,’ Stede mouthed back, walking over to give her hand a small squeeze in reassurance.
As promised, the coffee boys WILL be back tomorrow!
