Pledge – Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing Action Alliance Pledge

In 2022 at #OurOcean, the UK, US & Canada founded the Alliance with 9 more States and the #EU joining later. They all took a commendable 15-point pledge to strengthen efforts to combat #IUU (iuuactionalliance.com/pledge/). But most have fallen short on fully utilising the Global Record (Pledge #7).

We’re here at #UNOC3 🎉 One of our top asks to @ec.europa.eu is to get a legally binding #OceanAct out of the #OceanPact - a message our Exec Director shared with @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu & Commissioner Kadis🤝 Their presence here sets the right tone that #OurOcean needs all the attention it can get.

Couldn't agree more with former @ec.europa.eu DG MARE Commissioners Ms Damanaki and Mr Sinkevicius. Implementation, implementation, implementation. We already have the tools to fight #IUUfishing and protect #OurOcean. What is needed is to fully enforce them.
