Echo Canyon, near Death’s Rock

This is one of the most scenic of spots along the entire route of the Pacific Railroad. The UP, racing to meet the CP, built through here in the first months of 1869.

A color photograph taken at the Dale Creek Trestle Site.

This is a fabled locale on the Union Pacific portion of the First Transcontinental Railroad. Near Old Sherman, Wyoming, access to this site is restricted with it being on private property.

The image shows footings near Dale Creek, which is all that remains of the massive bridge (first built of timber, later of iron and steel).
