The trunk and branches of a Paper Birch tree are outlined against a late December sky. We have a lot of wonderful trees around our house, but I think this is my favorite.

A leaning paper birch. A portion of a paper birch tree leans into the photo from the bottom left and out of the picture at the top, just right of center. It is in the midst of other trees, which are mostly in the dark due to the way the light is hitting mostly on the birch. The tree is a little ragged at the edges with bark peeling off a bit.
