There were follow-up singles from Midnight Light, but nothing matched “Falling” (“Something About You” peaked at #48 on the #Billboard #Hot100). Pete Carr, always more at home behind the console than out front doing the promo grind, was not happy. #LennyLeBlanc #PeteCarr #OneHitWondered

The album’s release credits show that Midnight Light was a very ‘Muscle Shoals-meets-New York’ project… recorded & mixed at Wishbone Studio in Muscle Shoals, mastered at Sterling Sound in NYC… and produced/arranged by Pete Carr. #LennyLeBlanc #PeteCarr #OneHitWondered

Big Tree label head Doug Morris suggested LeBlanc & Carr form a duo, and they became an actual act… not just two session guys who knew each other. That led to Midnight Light (their only album), released on Big Tree and distributed by Atlantic Records. #LennyLeBlanc #PeteCarr #OneHitWondered

Pete Carr leaned into what Muscle Shoals offered: studio work. He eventually relocated there to pursue that path full-time… becoming a vital figure in Muscle Shoals history, serving as the lead guitarist for the legendary studio ensemble known as the Swampers. #PeteCarr #MuscleShoals #OneHitWondered

After the first two albums didn’t land, Hour Glass went to Rick Hall’s FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals and recorded tracks that finally sounded closer to what they could really do… but the label still passed, and the band basically collapsed. #HourGlass #PeteCarr #AllmanBrothers #OneHitWondered

In the late ‘60s, Duane & Gregg Allman took a weird detour into label-shaped pop-soul with the LA soul group Hour Glass… When they needed a bassist on their 2nd album, they added Pete Carr (who they knew from the Northern Florida music scene). #HourGlass #PeteCarr #AllmanBrothers #OneHitWondered

#Interestingly Motorcycle Mama was produced by the Muscle Shoals legend Pete Carr… a studio guitarist & engineer/producer. If you don’t know the name, you’ve definitely heard his playing... he'd worked with everyone from Bob Seger & Rod Stewart to Paul Simon. #PeteCarr #OneHitWondered

Four tracks on side B were recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound. Sun Spot Baby and Night Moves were favorites of mine since I was a child. Pete Carr’s guitar on night moves is sublime.
