I'm up early doing some edits on the "Teeth" WIP I've been querying. Not quite 5 AM writers club but it's something!
Also there is some strange harsh bark-moan echoing in the distance🤨

I think my books will be a duology as opposed to a trilogy like originally thought, which means I will need to start a different book sooner then expected. Still not for years but that means I need to start being insane about a new idea now

Writers — what is your main character's first name and why? Curious how other people name them

Screenshot of poem that reads:

Here is how you eat a mango:
Search the kitchen drawer
for a suitable knife.
The knick on the top end of the blade
will tell you this is the one.

Hold it firmly.

Do not waver when the juice runs
slick. You must cleave it into
fourths, always fourths.
Cut, thunk, cut, thunk, cut

Thunk the knife onto the stained
cutting board. Hold the pit high in both
hands, teeth stripping stringy flesh
from a hard white center.
Do not stop until the
bone bears no more meat.

Set the pit down gently.
There is more that must be done.

Take each fourth between sticky
fingers, holding your prize to your mouth,
imprint standing stark
against smooth shining
skin. Bitten flesh glowing
under dimmed lights.

Gnaw down to the bit
of sharp skin inedible indelible inflexible
as it bites back into your
mouth bright and bloody mixing
into the mango’s own remains until
there is nothing
left. Pull the sink handle,
turning the water a fading orange.

Shut the door behind you.
Become yourself.

End of poem.
