The cleaned pasta machine without its fenders, after running some clay through it.
The clay I got off the blades (smaller) and the clay stuck inside one fender (larger). None of these are the color I have been running through it, and despite being in the machine over 10 years, most is still very soft.

It's done! Finally got the #polyclay pasta machine apart, scraped all the clay out, and cleaned the blades and rollers with alcohol. Ran a bit through to make sure it worked, and it did just fine.

Need to clean the #polyclay out of my pasta machine. "Most effective to take it apart. Easy! 3-5 minutes, max!"
Try the "easy" end. The threaded rod just spins when I try to loosen the nuts. End of rod is tapered and too short to get vice-grips on.

I think I'm still going to finish this pattern, then start right in on duplicating it with lessons-learned.

Thinking about curves on the surface of #polyclay and realizing what I want is a tiny flexible metal rib.
Like, less than an inch across. Not sure how you'd even make that work. But I have no tools that let me define arbitrary curves for surfaces.

One of the weirdest things about sculpting with #polyclay vs working with pottery clay... I have this instinct to never leave air pockets, to carefully blend seams, and then cover my work so it doesn't dry out.
(I cover it so it doesn't accumulate dust.)

It's Linny again, with some more progress. One foot is mostly sculpted. Feet are hard in bas relief. And I can't have undercuts, and ideally don't even want 90° edges, because it has to be pulled from the mold.
Made progress today... but I spent some time experimenting with another technique that looks more like what I want.

I made this octopus vase a fair few years ago now. I covered a lovely shaped second hand vase with polymer clay swirls and a hand sculpted octopus.
