As the crew discussed what to do, Hugo looked up at the airship. It had taken even more damage in the crash landing. There were holes and tears all over the balloon, the sail-wing frames were bent, parts of the balcony sheared off and windows shattered. It would be a miracle if the rudder wasn’t damaged, too. The sight filled him with yet more feelings he wasn’t ready for. He tore his eyes away from the airship to sweep his gaze over the surrounding jungle. As he did, he noticed an iridescent reflection between the trees. Staring at it, a second reflection caught his eye, then a few more. There were things moving in the jungle, things with large black eyes! And the owners of those eyes were coming closer. “Everyone ...” Hugo cleared his throat. “Everyone, back inside the airship.”
