The upgrade to #php 8.4 made #mediawiki a total dumpster fire. Currently rebuilding #nextcloud-php83 on #poudriere so I downgrade back to php 8.3
Today, I was finally able to make an installable #freebsd package of a program I wrote in #rust to help keep track of finances.
Weirdly though, I cannot build it through the preferred means these days, due to a weird issue with #libclang that only happens in a #poudriere jail.

I'm thinking about #pkgbase - I already run #poudriere. I'm thinking about pkgbase in terms of what set of pkgbase packages I need to upgrade the OS of a #FreeBSD host versus a jail. For example, the host will need the kernel, the jail will not.

I know it's just a script and not the sort of thing usually considered "worthy" of academic study but I really feel like there should be a proper paper about #poudriere and the #FreeBSD package build system — the sort of thing that used to be presented at #Usenix ATC once upon a time.
With #poudriere, you can build your own #FreeBSD #pkg server. There are 2 parts to that:
* build pkgs
* provide pkgs to the hosts for installation
Have you broken into 2 hosts?
How did you sync the data? (e.g. rsync). I want to hear from those who have done this.

Now updating my #poudriere jail to #FreeBSD 14.1 - just so I can build specific packages for that release. I don't have to.
I could continue building packages for 14.0 and using them on all 14.x releases; that's what the project-built packages does with ${ABI}.

Before you upgrade to poudriere 3.4.1, add `allow.mlock` to your jail configuration.
Otherwise, your bulk/testport will fail with:
jail: jail_set: Operation not permitted
