A shot of flowers of Mojave Beardtongue, Penstemon pseudospectabilis. They're pinkish purple, narrow and tubular that flare toward the open end. Subtle veining is visible in the petals.
A closeup picture of Mojave Beardtongue, Penstemon pseudospectabilis, showing detail of the leaves and stems. The leaves are opposite and fused at the base, resembling a cup with points at opposite ends. They're emerald green and glossy, with light veining of the same or maybe a slightly lighter color. A cluster of flowers are coming from a short maroon flower spike attached to a leaf node, holding one open flower and multiple spent flower heads showing the style still attached to the pistil.
A nice, quiet one for today. Mojave Beardtongue is a very nice accent plant and hummingbird magnet for the hot garden. It seems to tolerate heat better than Showy Penstemon, with narrower and redder flowers.🧵
