I’ve been using a Raspberry Pi Pico 2 to spy on my #RC2014 Orton 3C’s data bus. At the moment this just displays the hex value it can currently see. This means I can make sure the values I’ve toggled in are correct without having to mentally convert from binary.

My #RC2014 Orton 3C computer is up and running.

This is a really low level Z80 computer that you program using the switches on the front panel.

In this case, I’m calling a ROM routine that reads the switches on the left, displays them on the LEDs, then rotates them left.

Testing out my #RC2014 Orton 3C Digital IO module on my #RC2014 Picasso.

The power light is blinding, so I may need to swap the resistor for a bigger value like the numbered LEDs.

Apart from that, it’s all looking good for both input and output.

The only soundchip I had in the 80's was the AY, in my ZX Spectrum +2!

But I certainly appreciate the SID - it's such an awesome sound. I produce a variety of interfaces to use it on other systems - #samcoupe, #rc2014 and compatibles (including the #zxspectrum via a ZX-RC Bus Adapter I produce).

That's a very elegant mounting solution @fuzzweed.co.uk has for the SID and SAA1099P soundchip interfaces on his custom computer board!

A mostly complete RC2014 Classic II 8 bit kit computer on a dirty MDF workbench. It has a blue backplane flush on the bench with eight "slots" - each a single row of pin sockets - and five small blue cards inserted. There are various electronic components soldered to the boards, but all the chip sockets are empty.

Been sitting on this #RC2014 for a year and finally got off my ass and built it.

Haven't socketed the IC's yet, waiting for the alcohol to dry after scrubbing all the flux off.

Now this is really, really fun! @fuzzweed.co.uk's homebrew 6502 system with some crafty interfacing to drive the 6 channel SAA1099P soundchip interface I released for #Z80 / #RC2014!

There. Now you have something to connect the serial port on your #RC2014 type thing, so it can talk to the terminal baked into this board. VT-100 with colour, basically.

The point being, to get an #RC2014 type system, with floppy drives (thanks to the Flock floppy controller/clock card), in a single box that takes a USB keyboard and SVGA screen.
