#redpolls rolled in a bit ago-- first time in awhile. They make beautiful sounds huddled together in the tree, #peaceful and #serene.

Look for maroon head cap and some chest coloration.

Since we moved to our new house in Oct we've been counting bird species seen & heard - 52 so far!
We're v pleased with the siskins & esp #REDPOLLS. They're not rare but they're not common either so it's a joy to see 2 pairs visiting the feeders every day!

A pair of Redpolls have been occasional visitors in my yard in NW Wisconsin this winter. Their presence varies year to year depending on food availability further north. There were so many in the winter 0f 2021-2022 that they were hard to count. 🪶

Male and female redpolls from the eBird site. You could almost confuse the male with more common purple finches, but the redpoll’s red head feathers stand up. They’re short, but like a crewcut.
