The box for the game Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?, which I thought was fine. It is a green box with the title near the top in very bold sans serif all caps white font. Just above it is a thin grey banner with the word EXPLORATIONS in it. Near the bottom are the computing requirements in a grey striped rounded rectangle and a little graphic telling you about how The World Almanac is included as a guide with the Broderbund logo under it. The main image is an old timey still life of a map, passport, old key, leather portfolio with some documents in it, a set of handcuffs, and centrally a polaroid-type photo of a woman in a hat and fur coat and a magnifying glass lying on top of that.

The box for the game Riddle of the Sphinx, which I thought was pretty good. It is a silver box - which comes through kind of grey in the scan - and has a number of colorful horizontal stripes. At the top is the Imagic logo (quite like the nintendo logo with a different font), below that is a thick red stripe with the game title in a vaguely Egyptian bold and round sans serif font, below that is a shorter orange stripe with "Video Game Cartridge For the ATARI Video Game System and Sears Video Arcade" in an italic sans serif font. A couple more decreasingly tall stripes in yellow, green, blue, and purple, and then we get the main image which is a mystical looking zoom-blurred photo of a sphinx in front of a digital graphic of some mountains, a deep red sun (or moon?), and a starry sky. There is a strip of multicolor heiroglyphics just below the mountains, as well. Below the main image is some more stripes that are actually trapezoids decreasing in height and width in red, orange, yellow, and green.

Just over his shoulder is a literally white-skinned woman with blond hair wearing a red top. She is in a circle kind of like peeking out of a hole and reaching a spindly arm to the right. Trees, tall grass, desert, mountains, and rock outcroppings all appear around the edges or in the background. In the far background is a Thunderjaw which is a large robot dinosaur kind of like a T-Rex with a long articulated neck and weapons mounted to the sides. I don't have time for a proper detailed alt text this morning, but this is the cover for the game FIFA Soccer 2004, which I thought was fine. This cover features Thierry Henry in the middle in an Arsenal jersey, Ronaldinho to the right in a Brazil jersey, and some white dude whose name I forget on the left in a jersey from a team from Italy, I think. The box cover for the game Basic Math, which I thought was not great. It is VERY 70's in appearance with a blue background and yellow font above the main image. The game title and "Game Program" appear at the top in retro spacey sans serif all caps font with "8 video games" and "table problems, random problems" in two columns below that and smaller font. At the very bottom in white tiny font is "A Warner Communications Company" and the Warner logo. The main image is of two school children dressed in all green, the one on the left female presenting in a long dress and kind of looking like an elf and the one on the right male presenting and wearing a kind of military top and bell bottoms. Both are ecstatic to be there and a rainbow bridges the gap between them. On their outfits, are two basic math problems 3/3=1 and 21x36=756 written in the American format. The left kid is admiring what appears to be a dove flying overhead and the right kid is catching a butterfly in a net. The bird has 4x44 on it, the butterfly has the basic operations and the net has 8+6=14. In between them in a bronze bordered square are the four basic operations again and below that there is a three headed dragon, a frog with many fingers, and a seated child with long hair and green pajamas with a ten-fingered hand. Below that, are two very toothy whales maybe vomiting the ocean or drinking it and the ocean has three Koi-like fish and the problem 92-50=42. It is a classic Star Wars image with the left side being a dark side image in reddish brown of the battle of Geonosis and the right side being a light side image in bluish white of the battle of Hoth. In the middle is a triangle of lego versions of Star Wars characters just like in the move posters. In this case, Rey is leading the bottom row with a yellow lightsaber flanked by Finn and BB-8 on the left and Chewbacca and Kylo Ren on the right. Just above them, a larger Jedi Luke Skywalker is in black and making a grimacing face while holding his green lightsaber. Above Luke is an even larger Darth Vader doing the force choke pose and holding his red lightsaber at his side. The main image is a Last of Us style rip off of a female presenting person holding a long gun and sitting on a chunk of concrete in a post apocalyptic cityscape. There's a dead zombie lying in the background and a shadowy figure approaching. It is a mostly cloudy sky and the leaves on the trees lining the street are just turning to autumn colors. The person in the foreground is wearing a plaid shirt, jeans, and reddish beanie with a wide white stripe and they are just looking at the ground in sadness or exhaustion maybe. The title of the game is in white, very bold and large sans serif font in the middle of the image, however it has been somewhat distressed and the bottom of it has had images cut out, like a road sign for the middle of the D and a person with a large backpack for the middle of the A. This image would make the graphics of the game seem very nice but in fact they are terrible for a modern game like this. I did not like it and I will hold a grudge.

The box for the game Number Munchers, which I thought was fine. It is a red box with Age 8 to Adult in the top left corner in a green rectangle, the MECC logo in the bottom right corner in the same color rectangle, and "Apple II Series with at least 64K. Includes 3.5" and 5.25" disks." in a gold rectangle in the bottom left corner. The game title is near the top in probably Times New Roman all plain and boring. Below that is the main image, a drawing of three round-ish cartoon monsters scaling a mountain while a rectangular backwards "C" shaped character stands at the top in hiking boots holding a small flag with an M on it and looking proud. Giant yellow even numbers in a bubble font hover in the background.

The box cover for the game Altered Beast, which I thought was fine. It is a classic Sega Genesis cover with the polygonal logo for that console at the top, and the black graph paper background at the bottom. In the graph paper part is the title of the game in white brush stroke font with blue 3-d effect and below that it reads "16-Bit Cartridge for use with the Sega Genesis Video Entertainment System" in a kind of wide sans serif all caps font with the 16-bit cartridge part larger and wider than the second line. The main image is that of a extremely buff werewolf looking angry but sideways and brandishing a fist at the viewer. Below the buff woof is what appears to be a pile of grey bodies that it has defeated? In the background more beasts appear including a fish coming right for us and a bat/man creature punching upwards towards the sky. Truly a fine piece of art.
