Unsanctioned fireworks shows on Rio Del Mar beach. Being on the beach was like walking through a fire-fight. Alcoholic beverages were finally banned followed by outlawing the displays a couple of years later. Citizens were accidentally setting fire to adjacent hills, cliffs, threatening housing, businesses, etc. The beach is now closed to containers, BBQs, etc. on the 4th and heavily guarded. Super-fun while it lasted.
