#RoboCars to the rescue! π€πͺπ Being able to sleep while you commute as your built-in chauffeur took the wheel would be awesome.

California and Texas passed regulations companies have to follow to operate #RoboCars in their respective states. Essentially they are driver licenses for the companies. They can't operate them on the streets willy nilly. More states are passing similar laws.

Yet another reason we need #RoboCars. Call in an order. Send our car. They put the food in the trunk. The car returns home. You've got your food.
If we can anthropomorphize human driven cars as ourselves so that he didn't hit my car but he hit "me" then we can do anthropomorphize humanless cars as "self" driven cars.
But if it's really a problem we can go with "autonomous vehicles" or my fave: #RoboCars. π€ππ
Another reason for #RoboCars. π€ππ
I've been arguing for #RoboCars since the Aughts but #Waymos should be able to drive in the dark. There are plenty of rural roads with nary a streetlight or even those yellow road reflectors.a1q
#RoboCars is the future of cars. The overwhelming majority of people want a built-in chauffeur. And if the car can take itself to the gas station, maintenance, deliver and pick up goods and/or kids--and the elderly? π€π±ππ

#Robocars. Get in. Give it a destination. Take a nap or whatever and leave the driving to it.
People hate urban bumper to bumper traffic but almost as bad is driving the same long rural commutes. I hate having to drive 40 minutes to the nearest movie theater. I'd rather let ride and nap. π΄π
2x is a godsend. It gets rid of that "ok, get to the point" feeling. 1x is good for live streaming so I can interact with conversation.
I agree with @miasato.bsky.social. #Waymo needs to show #Robocars in rain, snow and city areas to truly "arrive". That said, it's driving circles around T*sla.
Then the good news is if you don't trust #Waymo, #RoboCabs or #RoboCars then there are still human cabbies you can use.
I don't trust human intelligence enough to trust the artificial intelligence designed by our natural intelligence.
And if #AI does "take over", it will probably look like #Robocops rather than #RoboCars, and be as likely to take 40,000 lives than save them. IMHO.
But hey... Enjoy your Tesla!
Once #AI takes over, #RoboCars will save us all from 40k deaths a year from car crashes in the US alone.
Unlike human drivers, they won't be shaving, eating, putting on makeup, gawking at gals, hawking at guys nor have blindspots and have faster machine reflexes. π€ππ

#Robocars may reduce #TrafficJams!
We passed three looonngg jams yesterday on west bound I-80.
If these developers need test sites, send 'em here.
In the mean time, #RoadConstruction crews should be taking mobile bathrooms and cool drinks to stuck drivers.

In today's news, gleaned thru tiny radio speakers stuck in my ears via a wireless telephone that's also a supercomputer, I'm told "autonomous taxi operator Cruise says it's identified a software glitch that led one of its #robocars to drag a pedestrian in a downtown San Francisco crash."
