A small white envelope bears the hand-drawn letters שבט (Shevat) in Hebrew. They are big and fat, filled with green stripes and outlined in bright orange.
The back of the envelope says ‘peas peppers carrots’ as it is time to sow these seeds soon. Just taken from the envelope are packets of sweet pepper, brussels sprouts, carrot and purple broccoli seeds.
We are 18 days into the month of Shevat but only now am I opening my #RoshChodesh (new moon) letter to myself. Past me loves current me and would like all me to exercise moderation. “Over-indulgence does not nourish your long term joy.”
Fair. I’ll keep up the good work. And plant seeds.

A white envelope is decorated with the word כסלו. In bubble writing. Hebrew bubble writing. A neon pink outline, orange pinstripes fill the letters and there’s a blue semi-circle chainstitch border on the eastern inner edge. The lamedh has an air of a suggestive dancer and there’s something serpentine about all the letters.
After #RoshChodesh, I tried to read my letter to myself that I wrote on YK. But I lost it. Well, reader, tonight I re-found my Kislev letter.
