We're looking straight on at the large, imposing entrance to a medieval building sporting numerous Romanesque architectural elements. The stone of the building is pale but warm-toned and we're visiting here on an overcast day. Flagstones and cobbles on the floor show signs of recent showers. Central in the wall ahead of us is a large set of dark, wooden, double doors with a pronounced rounded arch top. This is inset into a handful of arched niches, each one with the same Romanesque arch form created from bricks curving around the top. Two pairs of columns, not identically-matched, sit either side of the door and decoratively support the arched recesses that frame it. Decorative reliefs line the wall over the arched doorway, largely small headless figures of saints most likely. A triangular pediment finishes off this grand portico to the building behind, itself with a deep, square recess in which a sculpture of a woman and child can be seen.
For #DoorsDay here's the entrance to the collegiate church and cloister of St Juliana in Santillana del Mar, Spain. A lovely example of Romanesque architecture.

We're looking at a stone wall where it joins another one at ninety degrees on the right of view, only just visible at the edge. The stones are rough, some large brick-shaped, others more organic to fill in gaps, and they're all warm tones of yellows and beiges. The mortar between the stones is pale and thick in places to fill in the larger spaces where the stones don't quite fit. In the centre of the view as we look at it, although it's not quite central to the wall itself, there is a small, square window with thick lintel around its edge. The window frame is matt black and it holds a window of nine small, square panes of glass, opened outwards and swinging to the right where it nearly touches the other wall there. Sat in the window and almost filling the area is a small plant in a terracotta pot, with bushy green leaves and a bright red flower atop. Beneath the window there is a faded sign on a dirty white background with black trim, and letters in a gothic script that spell out the word "Habitaciones", in black except for the most-faded first letter which is red.
For #FensterFreitag it's a window spotted amongst the medieval buildings and narrow streets of Santillana Del Mar in northern Spain last year.

Auto’s mogen er niet in, maar toeristen en schoolklasjes wel en dat merk je. Logisch, want verderop ligt de #Altamira-grot met tekeningen van 20.000 jr geleden. 🚌🌞1/
