Using ETTs coated with ceragenins did not reduce the incidence of VAP compared to standard subglottic suction ETTs, but mortality was lower with the ceragenin-coated ETTs, according to the CEASE VAP study.

We don’t actually know what is a “high” anti-Xa level or a “low” level is, or whether they are effective at anticoagulation in kids.

Two story mural showing many doors and windows
Text: Edie Fake (b. 1980, Evanston, IL; lives in Twentynine Palms, CA) The Free Clinic for Gender Affirming Care, 2024-25 Mural With this mural, artist Edie Fake envisions the utopian facade of a clinic for free transgender healthcare. The mural confronts the sweeping political effort to repress, restrict, and scapegoat transgender and nonbinary people. While gender-affirming care is like any other form of healthcare, helping transgender and non-binary people lead safe and healthy Ilives, it is a frequent target of misinformation and suppression-including more than one hundred legislative bills to limit access to it in the past year alone. This issue is personal for Fake, who notes, "In my own life, access to gender-affirming care has been hard won and life changing... this mural is meant to meet the threats]-and often reality-that [have] positioned gender-affirming care as scarce, under-resourced, and underground with an aspirational and celebratory vision." The mural's layered architectural motifs suggest a majestic structure whose undulating prismatic colors reflect the full spectrum of gender expression beyond the binary. Atrium Project: Edie Fake is organized by Jack Schneider, Assistant Curator.
Text, also in Spanish: "Social movements and other activist formations are sites of collective world-making. Organized with the goal of bringing about other realities, they often counter the common sense, the habits of feeling, and the ways of living that prevail in a given time and place. More than challenging what is, they offer something else..." -Deborah Gould "Education in the Streets: ACT UP, Emotion, and New Modes of Being" The history of the LGBTQ+ rights movement has seen activists fight on many fronts-through protests, street art, alternative media, and more. This gallery contains artwork, publications, ephemera, and archival materials related to a small selection of the many Chicago-based individuals and groups who combine artistic and activist practices to address issues affecting queer people.
