On March 15th, our team worked alongside @uncw.mmsp to necropsy a humpback whale that stranded along the SC/NC border. Necropsy results suggested this animal died from blunt force trauma from an acute ship strike, resulting in multiple skull fractures and jaw disarticulation. This is a stark reminder of the threats these animal face in a busier ocean.
