Closeup of the black trim. I sewed it on the seams of the godet to frame it and give it a finished look.

Price tag on the roll of trim I bought at the thrift store. I know I had at least 7 yards which would mean I paid about 28 cents a yard!!!
Added a black trim to the godets and hem of my skirt last night and it added a nice finishing touch to the garment. The trim cost me only $1.98 at St. Vincent De Paul! Thrifted notions are a double win: affordable and sustainable.

They never look clean when I do them by machine, so today I’m going to hand-stitch one for more control.

A needle full of blue thread has been temporarily parked on a checked quilt backing in shades of tan, black, rust and gray. A floral binding in blue, cream, and gold is in the process of being hand sewn to the bottom edge of the quilt.
Hemming down a quilt binding. I’m using up my fabric & batting stash by making lap quilts to give away. They’re machine sewn except for this part because I like the quiet time. #slowsewing
