Environment Canada forecasts temperatures reaching up to 33 degrees Celsius, with humidex values amplifying the perceived heat. To prevent stress on the province’s power grid, the Independent Electricity System Operator is advising residents to conserve electricity during peak demand periods. A program called Peak Perks offers incentives for participation in electricity conservation efforts. Enrolling in Peak Perks provides an initial $75 virtual prepaid Mastercard, with an additional $20 Mastercard awarded annually for continued involvement. Homeowners can also explore the Home Renovation Savings Program, which offers a $75 rebate for installing a smart thermostat. Furthermore, Save on Energy’s affordability program provides eligible residents with a free smart thermostat. Enercare customers who participate in Peak Perks may receive an additional $75 through Enercare’s Matching Program.
