Close up of engraving -so close all you can see are blacks and grays even though it is a color photo. Upright diamond pattern divided into 9 smaller diamonds, each with a round dot in the middle. The corners between the diamond and its rectangular frame are filled with a swirly leaf pattern.

Stunning stone screen at St Swithin’s for #StoneworkSunday
Perhaps from Winchester or even Salisbury, wherever this medieval screen came from it is always a great sight in such a small old church.

A broad design to the nave, almost like an upside down ship’s hull.

St Andrew’s Church, Roker, Sunderland

1906-7, to a design by E. S. Prior, noteworthy for tiny aisles & broad nave, so as to give clear views to the chancel.

The ‘Pilgrim Hare’ from St. Mary’s Church at Beverley in East Yorkshire. Dating to the mid-14th century, the hare is dressed as a pilgrim, hence the title. It is thought that the carving was the inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s White Rabbit. 📸 My own. #StoneworkSunday #Beverley

One side of a cloister, with pairs of columns, all with individual, highly decorative capitals. Arches join the pairs of columns along the row - they have a multi-layered zig zag pattern facing the walkway alongside.
There is a view through to the adjoining arcaded side of the cloister, also with columns.

Cloister of #Medieval Cathédrale Saint-Sauveur d'Aix-en-Provence (built over the #Roman forum) just has the most glorious array of 12th C #SundayStonework.

All time favourite has to be the twisty one at the corner topped with #lion of St Mark the Evangelist though (pls click).
