A red fox looks for tidbits. She is mid-frame, slightly to the left. Her nose is down and her feet imply she is walking. Her head and fore-body is red and white. Her legs start reddish and progress to black toward the feet. Her back half is grey and red - mainly grey with red highlights. Her tail has a lighter tip. The background is straw bales.

Enough ranting for the day.

Here is a #NoKings day fox. We (non-fox experts) think this is a female who may be pregnant.

We see another fox interacting with her on an ongoing basis. We (non-fox experts) think he is her younger mate.

We have interesting color genetics in the squirrels around here. ❤️

We see them in all shades of black, gray, red, and brown. Last year we had a black one with a white-tipped tail. This year, four black kiddos with copper tails.

Crow vs Squirrel

We tossed some cashews out into the back yard and it turned into an exciting. The crows gobbled them up, but the squirrels buried them (when burying a nut, apparently SMOOSHING your face into the ground is required).

Our squirrels are big fans of popcorn. Makes one wonder if they have a hidden movie theater in the trees somewhere! ;-)

I tossed out some popcorn so the birds could fill up before the blizzard. This little squirrel came out to eat and I noticed his bare tail!

Lost a battle, but lived to fight another day.

True. Grateful we don't have those. Although, during their recent mating season, a coyote came after a chocolate Labrador retriever on the road while its owner was walking it on a leash. #coyotes #suburbanwildlife

The young buck with very small antlers was vocalizing to the deer leaving him behind when he wanted to eat more buckbrush twigs and berries. This is the crosstimbers ecosystem.

A White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) was standing on fallen leaves near tree trunks, bushes, and vines in Norman, Oklahoma, United States on December 4, 2025. This is the crosstimbers ecosystem. The bushes with red berries are buckbrush (Symphoricarpos orbiculatus) and are a favorite of deer and other wildlife. The greenbriar vines are eaten by deer and have berries that are eaten by birds in the winter. The hackberry trees have berries that are eaten by birds in the winter.

An American Crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos) was standing on the top of an Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana) watching everything that happened in the neighborhood in Norman, Oklahoma, United States on November 16, 2025. The crow shouted warning of danger and impropriety or shouted news of fresh bird seed being distributed. If the red-shouldered hawk comes, the rest of the murder can arrive quickly and drive it away.
