Tanystropheus was a long-necked reptile that lived around 230 million years ago during the Triassic period. Its neck, which made up most of its body length, was made of elongated vertebrae, making it an excellent aquatic or semi-aquatic predator. It likely used its long neck to catch fish or other marine prey while keeping its body hidden from sight.
