The wild weather over the weekend has certainly mixed things up with an influx of different moths into our Perth Hills garden.
This lovely moth is Hednota tenuilineata, a species endemic to Western Australia and a new observation for us.

Praxis marmarinopa - the Western Praxis
Despite its common name, this moth can be found across Australia most commonly between Aug & Sept. This one was seen in early Nov in a coastal area 150km north of Perth

I think we can agree this has been one special year for butterflies and moths so far but why is it? Last year was one of the worse on record, breeding would of been down a lot so how come the numbers this year? Did a higher % survive the winter? Or another reason? #teammorh #ukbutterflies

Ardices glatignyi - Black and White Tiger Moth
Our first observation of this striking moth for the year. Observations of this endemic species peak in early May in Western Australia. This one is a darker form than we have seen previously.

A moth with forewings that are ochreous in colour with a darker line and distinctive blue spots where the wings meet.
Not 100% sure what this moth is.
It’s possibly a Sandstone Carpet (Anachloris tofocolorata), although this one has more distinct blue spots than others recorded in #inaturalist.
