Thank you @tnt for bringing up my TinyQV RISC-V SoC on the most recent #TinyTapeout chips to come back from the fab.
These particular IHP chips are funded by the EU, so sadly due to Brexit they can't be shipped to me - but we were able to get Micropython running, and therefore confirm the […]
Happy to announce that Anton Maurovic's "Antonalog analog VGA" design on our experimental chip TTIHP0.3 has been tested and is working!

Finally got the #TinyTapeout 8 ASIC with a couple of my designs on it.
When Efabless shut down we thought these chips were lost, but Tiny Tapeout managed to get hold of them and ship them out!
This design calculates the Mandelbrot fractal, racing the beam style. It’s clocked at 100MHz.

It's finally happening! Our 6th community built #TinyTapeout chip is heading into Low Earth Orbit on Wednesday the 19th at 19:20 CET!

Our #TinyTapeout 8 chips dies are looking lovely on the new COB (chip on board).
Thanks Tamas for the board update and Stuart for getting them bonded!
TinyGPU v2.0. A standalone GPU that can display a model file from Flash.Render 1K tri at 6.5fps in 320x240, 4-bit color. Tested on Basys3 FPGA. Submitted to the upcoming #TinyTapeout shuttle.

TinyGPU v2.0. Just completed the rasterization with z-buffer part I am trying to finished transformation & lighting part before the upcoming #TinyTapeout shuttle.
It reminds me of this video of simulations of some #TinyTapeout VGA designs

A terminal window with text like "pass basics/set_copy.py" on each line, showing the tests are passing.
Watching the #Micropython test suite running on TinyQV, my Risc-V SoC. An increasing number of tests pass 😅
With the #TinyTapeout competition using it, I'm trying to make sure there's no lurking issues!
On the stream today I'll be chatting with @rebelmike.bsky.social about the upcoming RISC-V Tiny Tapeout competition.

Streaming on open source silicon in 3 hours!
I'll be looking at the results of the #TinyTapeout survey, and picking a winner for the wafer prize.
Then Pat Deegan will be joining me to talk about putting our ASICs in Space!

Had some fun testing Ricardo Nunes's 12bit SAR ADC on #TinyTapeout 7 this afternoon.
A SAR ADC is a nice mixed signal example, with the digital section coordinating the binary search of an internal DAC, homing in on the input signal.
Glad I could test it myself and see it working!
Last few days for Tiny Tapeout 10!
The shuttle closes at 21:00 CET / 12:00 PT on Monday 10th of March.
So put on your ASIC hat and get that last minute design submitted onto Tiny Tapeout 10!

Note that the Pong code doesn't have a frame buffer -- the VGA pixels are computed just in time, in scan order, by asking all the objects what their color is at that location #TinyTapeout

I posted a thread over on Fedi about detailed investigations into some strange behaviour of my #TinyTapeout 6 design:

As always, #tinytapeout is extremely fun, and it is incredible that we can now get custom chips manufactured just to play around with a stupid idea. And not only that, but doing both so and getting the final chip working is extremely easy thanks to a ton of work by @mattvenn.net and team
Interface to upload data into the PSRAM pmod
12/ How do I put data in memory in the first place? #TinyTapeout is an amazing project with amazing tool, and the demo board has a RP2040 onboard with micropython on it. So you can use that to initialize ('flash') data in the PSRAM pmod before statrting your design.
6/ To me, this is crazy ; when I started on #FPGA and #Silice back in 2018 I never *dreamed* of one day having my own design on silicon. Thanks #tinytapeout and everyone involved who makes this possible!

Screenshot of part of a console window, saying all 3 tests (basic, all and random) passed in 116 seconds.
I finally got around to testing the second project I had on #TinyTapeout 06. This squeezed 64 bytes of RAM into a single Tiny Tapeout tile (roughly 160x100 um). It works!
I'm going to start a regular stream about #opensource silicon. Topics will include design, verification, #fpga, openlane, formal, #tinytapeout, #ASIC bringup, chip validation.

I’ve got MicroPython running on TinyQV - my RISC-V SoC that’s on #TinyTapeout 6.
Here it is bit banging (from MicroPython!) a rule 30 cellular automaton to an LED matrix display.
