I arrived too late to see the actual capture, but this crab spider nabbed herself a huge meal with this poor bee. First frame is the spider holding onto the bee from the back of the bees head while upside down under a Cleveland Sage blossom in dappled morning light.
Second frame shows the spider better, as she is now dangling by a thread of silk, while still clamped onto the bees head...
...and you can even see two little photo-bombing flies or midges on the bees body as the thread of silk spins the spider and bee around the other way under the flower.
And last frame, the spider has swung over and landed on the flower stalk, and is still holding the dead bee in profile here. Had to shake some rust off, haven't been chasing the bugs a lot lately...
Ok, 1st off, apologies to the poor bee, and its family...🪦
And I realize this is a day late for #TinyTuesday, AND a day early for #InsectThursday... but I don't care. 🤨
Nature is AMAZING, and this was COOL to see this morning, out on the sage...🌿🐝🕷️
