Black Bittern, a small dark heron with a striking cream throat patch and thick streaking in deep maroon and cream on the neck and breast. Photographed in dry reeds in very low light.
A Reticulated Python, a very large snake, curled up in water among vegetation, largely obscured, but with the grey, yellow and black wavy pattern clearly visible.
A two #lifer day for me in #Bangkok today. A smashing male Zappy's Flycatcher this morning, then 2 Black Bittern almost in the dark this evening. Bonus of 2 Reticulated #Python later. All in Benchakitti Park.

Mountain Peacock-pheasant, a medium to large gamebird with warm brown back, wing and tail feathers, which have small blueish "eyes". The head, neck and underside are a pastel blue grey and the tail is long. It's standing on bare ground among fallen leaves in front of a large mossy green log.
