Day 104 Togakushi

I went to Togakushi’s last day of the season yesterday and it was absolutely #beautiful the whole day. Unfortunately they have to shut down to prepare for the upcoming busy green season but could easily stay open till mid-May.

#TogariOnsen is just across the valley from #NozawaOnsen - that’s #Nozawa off in the distance. The valley is nicknamed ski resort alley in Japanese since there are so many resorts in the area including #ShigaKogen, #Madarao, #Togakushi, #Ryuoo, #Yomase, #Kijimadaira, #Kurohime, #Myoko and more.

A wintry scenery over at the foot of Togakushi in Nagano/prefecture. We were on our way to climb the steep road up the mountain to Togakushi Shrine. By the entrance to these woods there were all warning signs of “Beware of Bears” and “Keep your Bells 🛎️with You” signposts to shoo-away wild bears when happen to be in contact with on your way up to the Mountain. Snow-covered woods; bare, leafless trees covered the vast woodland; thick snow blanketed the ground; and in the middle of the valley a stream of running fresh water by the creek that goes all over to the river..｡

While I'm #Nagano, we took the opportunity to visit the #Zenkoji temple and #Togakushi . The latter has 5 shrines though only visited one and walked along the path of 400 year old giant cedar trees. It was really a sight!
