you know you're doing something right with #TQE annotations when you start noticing students adding Thoughts, Questions and Epiphanies to their own drafts while they work!
(The system from Marisa Thompson that just keeps on giving!)

Tried my first #TQE discussion yesterday with my Grade 12s and I thought it went really well! Sorry @senior126.bsky.social that I left it all over the board. Also, I forgot to take it off again today 😬.
Oh how Marisa Thompson’s #TQE system continues to spread!

format for fishbowl seminar in three rounds
As Marisa Thompson has discussed in her posts/materials, the #TQE essentially becomes the discussion—students show up with their thinking and that drives the vast majority of what we talk about.
Here was the format for each mini-seminar (they rotate through!)

One of the best days of fishbowl seminars I’ve had as a teacher! 🙏
A major reason for this? Students showed out with their #TQE notes to prepare for the discussion and, as a result, they had A LOT to say 👀
I implemented the #tqe method in class today, and I AM SOLD! It led to the most engaging, fun class discussion yet. I love this simple framework that gets students thinking + engaging with texts. I only have 45-50 min with them, so we had to be quick.

@DavidSchawel "handcrafted aesthetic and homage to the past" I mean that's as #TQE as it possibly can get in terms of phrasing.

Thing about #TQE is that if it doesn't cross the line into farce, it can be totally awesome, delicious, beautiful. None of those are bad!
