Windmill Palm, Trachycarpus fortuneii. They thrive here in the US Pacific NW. Sometimes called Chusan Palm. In any breeze, the leaf blades tremble, rustle, and dance. They have yellow flowers but since both of my trees are the same sex, no seeds result.
My dad once collected gingko seeds for me to grow. He died 10 years ago, so this tree is a legacy. I germinated four, gave him one, and planted the others at the old place in Vancouver, WA. I moved this one to my current home in Battle Ground, WA. It hadn't bloomed yet, so I don't know the sex.
About six years ago, I collected acorns while walking Rufus in the old neighborhood in Vancouver, WA. I germinated them, and this is a result. Deer chew the lower branches. Now it's tall enough to not happen at the top. That old oak was truly majestic and massive.
The leaves of the young oak tree. I don't know the variety. I'm guessing it's native, given the great age of the parent tree.
Tress I planted. Windmill palm with flowers, ~ 10 years old. Ginkgo tree that I grew from a seed, planted about 25 years ago but I moved it several times. Oak tree I grew from an acorn, planted 2019. Now ~8 feet tall. The parent tree was truly majestic. ๐ฑ #gardening #trees #treescrolling
