 • in 1909, New York mafioso Nicola Sylvester is arrested on suspicion of planting a bomb. In western Pennsylvania, former Black Hand gang leader Rocco Racco is sentenced to be executed after a conviction for first degree murder.
 • in 1911, Pellegrino Scaglia is stabbed dozens of times in St. Louis but survives.
 • in 1914, the body of Angelo Romagnino, bearing knife and gunshot wounds, is found at Niles OH.
 • in 1918, Brooklyn Camorra boss Alessandro Vollero testifies in his murder trial.
 • in 1923, New York mafioso Saverio Pollaccia is arrested on suspicion at Toledo OH.
