Today in #TroyNY History: on March 30, 1986, Troy police were called to Leonard Hospital at 74 New Turnpike Road following reports of a suicidal individual carrying a sawed off shotgun.
Asst. Chief Joseph West was among those first to arrive at the hospital.

On this date, March 9... • in 1855, a $500 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer of nativist New York gang leader Bill 'the Butcher' Poole. • in 1909, New York mafioso Nicola Sylvester is arrested on suspicion of planting a bomb. In western Pennsylvania, former Black Hand gang leader Rocco Racco is sentenced to be executed after a conviction for first degree murder. • in 1911, Pellegrino Scaglia is stabbed dozens of times in St. Louis but survives. • in 1914, the body of Angelo Romagnino, bearing knife and gunshot wounds, is found at Niles OH. • in 1918, Brooklyn Camorra boss Alessandro Vollero testifies in his murder trial. • in 1923, New York mafioso Saverio Pollaccia is arrested on suspicion at Toledo OH. • in 1926, Dutch Schultz is arrested for disorderly conduct. • in 1929, attorneys for Al Capone argue that he is too sick at his Florida home to travel to Chicago and testify before a grand jury. • in 1935, the district attorney at Troy NY questions Dutch Schultz about the murder of Jules Martin. • in 1944, Brooklyn gangster Louis Capone, recently electrocuted at Sing Sing Prison, is given a brief and inexpensive funeral. • in 1959, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York revokes the naturalization of Frank Costello.
