It’s a sick day from the day job after I woke up head spinning. So we’re take a break from the little quilts to begin the dissection and prep for a new t-shirt quilt.

My very first t-shirt quilt blocks!! Not perfect, but not bad. And definitely not as hard as I was thinking it would be. Now to get the rest of the top sewn together so I can get it on my frame!! Yay! #quiltsky #tshirtquilt

I finally broke down and bought a cheap corded iron. It has made fusing the stabilizer on the back of the shirts soooooo much easier! Now I can finish a shirt in one pass, without having to wait for the iron to heat back up. I figured this will be my iron for all fusibles! #quiltsky #tshirtquilt

I'm still working on the t-shirts for my first t-shirt quilt. The main issue? I am not a very patient person and it requires a lot to properly fuse the stabilizer to the t-shirts! I'm really hoping I get past this part today! #tshirtquilt #quiltsky

My first quilt that made me fall in love with quilting. A dear friend at the time helped my cousin Michele and I back in 2015 in memory of my cousin Regina Askins. We gifted it to her young son. “Rock in Peace” she was a huge AC/DC fan.

Unsewn quilt blocks lay on my studio floor as I try out design options. The blocks are made of t-shirts and there are rolled up uncut t-shirts in the mix. The blocks are all improvs on the classic Spider’s Web quilt block.

Do you remember your first quilt?
Mine was this T-Shirt quilt. The seams don’t match up, the sashing is all different sizes, the quilting is coming apart … but everybody has to start somewhere! It is still one of the most loved quilts in our house.
