Psilocybin mushroom stewardship: A qualitative inquiry into practices and priorities of “underground” psilocybin mushroom practitioners | Journal of Psychedelic Studies Networks underground psilocybin mushroom practitioners are popularly known to exist, though few systematic investigations of their practices have been conducted. We sought to uncover the experiences of a hidden community of psilocybin practitioners in order to inform scientific and policy dialogues about safe and effective practices in this area.

Glad to see this—I've said it before: there's so much knowledge in the psychedelic underground founded on legit, if less formal, research and direct experience, where something akin to peer review happens almost in real time on online forums and elsewhere. Abstract ⬇️

A black and white photo of a view deep inside a complex landscape inside a huge lava tube. In the immediate foreground is part of a system of metal railings, platforms, and ladders, enabling visitors to safely descend into the cave. To the railing's right is an exposure of solid lava rock that rapidly descend out of sight. The area above the rock is unlit by the hand light, and is pitch black. The rest of the area visible by the lamp light is a circular lit area that occupies much of the middle, and left side of the photo. The system of metal railings and ladders is seen to turn to gain access to a gaping pit in the floor, which a metal stairway drops through. More rock wall can be seen as it descends viewed through the pit. The far side of the pit is a narrow ledge of rock that looks like a bridge between the pit and another circular opening in the cave that reveals blackness beyond.
