Every time she just said something to dissuade him and try to tell him it was hopeless. Learning when he has to be quiet about some things. Yomi learned to keep it to himself. Juurou had a permanent smile on his face. From the moment they’d met, he’d been smiling. It was only when they were separated, and Yomi would see him through cracks in the doors that he’d see him without that smile. It made his insides squirm when he didn’t have it. Juurou’s face was only complete when he had that smile. It was something unique. Something nothing else could do. No one else. He’d slaughtered countless aliens and none of them smiled the way Juurou did. Very few of them smiled at all.
