It's #InternationalPallasCatDay! Finding wild Pallas's cat was one of the most amazing experiences of the last year. It was hunting voles on a Himalayan plain, wriggling its tail - the only part of its body that isn't camouflaged - presumably to distract the voles. #MammalWatching #WildIndia #Ladakh

The top half of a spreadsheet of all the mammals I saw in 2024. It has columns for the species name, the place and date I saw it for the first time, whether I've seen it in Australia, India, North America, Africa and Europe, and where I saw it in each year - cropped to show 2024 and 2023.

OK so I've done my #MammalWatching tally for 2024 and it comes to a respectable 61 species, including 15 first-timers. Big highlights include #PallasCat, Tibetan fox and couple of #marmots (I LOVE marmots!).
Everyone loves a list. 🤓🗒️ #WildIndia #WildOz #fieldwork #mammals
