Critter Highlight: Wolf Eel (Anarrhichthys ocellatus)
Contrary to what their name and appearance suggest, Wolf Eels are a species of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the family Anarhichadidae, the wolf fishes. They aren't eels at all!

Arden (aka Mangafoks) and K'zu are protectors of Zura's wilderness. But doesn't mean that they only watch the surface. Arden can turn into a merfolk with the magic of the Barklaw Tribe! Even the Tubo Bird was turned into a fish! With their new form, Arden and K'zu can fend off unwanted hunters (beastkins and mostly humans) trespassing the underwater world.

I had my Zuran guardian, Arden, be a merfolk based on a Wolf Fish (thanks to his lycanthropy). K'zu is based on a flying fish as he is a bird.

The large head, powerful jaws, and large canine teeth of the Atlantic wolffish are all used to hunt and eat hard-bodied or spiny invertebrates, such as sea urchins.

Digital illustration of a mermaid! The fish portion is that of a wolffish, with grey and blue scales, a paler underside, and long dorsal fin that runs the length of her eel-like tail. The humanoid upper portion follows the same colour pattern, and joins where the fish's face would be; the wolffish's toothed mouth sits in wait of prey. She raises an arm, storm-coloured hair billowing and vacant ocher eyes peering in opposite directions. Boobs.
