Fumio Fujita (b.1933) creates a lot of #japanese #woodblocks of lush forests, often with horses running through the lush greens. This piece called "Horse" (1990) was so playful and colorful I thought it would add a bit of cheer to the feed today.

This game took long to set up and even longer to play! But I had fun playing with pieces. I made a cosy village. Gate is always open so everyone can come visit anytime.

I solved the puzzle of how to move from Kento marks (traditional Japanese registration carved in the blocks) to an outside reg syst. maintaining the alignment of the 3 blocks. Currently tabbing the paper using this jig. Keeping the video under 60s was hard y'all! #printmaking #woodblocks

There are few remaining extant woodblocks from the early modern period. The #Woodblocks from Rudbeck's Campi Elyisii survived a terrible fire which destroyed most copies of the book they were meant to illustrate. You can come and see them on display in our #StillLife exhibition.
