A diminutive Water-penny beetle (Eubria palustris) from our SSSI fen. The beetle is classified as Near Threatened. Incredibly it's still here after being first recorded nearly 100 years ago! #worldcoleopteraweekend

Leptura aurulenta (The Hornet Beetle), Cuilaphuca Wood, Co. Carlow.

Larvae develop in dead or decaying stumps (etc) of various broadleaved trees, especially oak. A local species mainly recorded from counties Cork & Kerry in Ireland.
