#OTD On March 11, 1917, General Stanley Maude’s Anglo-Indian forces captured Baghdad after outmaneuvering Ottoman troops at the Diyala River. Taking 15,000 prisoners, Maude entered the city without major fighting, effectively ending centuries of Ottoman rule in the region.

In Scapa Flow, one of the four late war Königsberg class light cruisers. As the most modern light cruisers, the whole class was surrendered. One survived the scuttling to become the French cruiser Metz.
